About the 1st District

The First State District in Illinois is located on the southwest side of Chicago. It encompasses parts of the neighborhoods of Archer Heights, Back of the Yards, Brighton Park, Chicago Lawn, Gage Park, Garfield Ridge, LeClaire-Hearst, Marquette Park, Vittum Park, West Elsdon, West Englewood, and a small part of suburban Stickney. The 1st District is a vibrant and immigrant-friendly district. The 1st District is home to the 2nd largest Latino population in the State of Illinois. It is also home to the 4th Largest youth population.
